Hi frene. I would like to. Know your opinión about Fidu behavior.
Today i was cycling un the Garden and fell down. Fidu was following me and stood over me sweetly while i was on the ground complaining altbough i didnt hurt myself. The thing is that he growled. He is very strong and knowimg he is dominant i was afraid of him and hit him un the face to separate from me to prevent from being biten. Mt be i was unfair to Fidu. I wonder id he wanted to protect me, if instinctively he thought i was a prey, ir if he tale adventage to became the leader when he sow me on the floor
When he was a pup (he is now15 month old) was very dominant and agressive, even with me. I spent a lot of time educating him, now he id a lovely dog, very guardián and protective, companion and obedient. He could be out of control ocasionally with other Malé diga, cara ir in the case that someone gray to aproach to me o to his girls.some days ago i visir the breeder to get a female gsd. There was his brotherwho was given Jack because was incontrolable. He was very avresive in the kennel, and when the breeder wbo is a well known trainer as well take him out from the kennel i bent to take him a photo and he traied to attak me. But on the contrary FIdu is very gente with me, altbough he is astute as a wolf. Please help me to understand his behavior. Sorry for my english i hope you can understand.

Thanks the pedigree is here. Its a nice working line pedigree, especially beyond the 5th gen. I dont know most of the dogs. I am sure, someone else will comment.

He might be a lovely dog, but if he is going to show aggression to his owner, then he's  really not so lovely after all. Does the pedigree really matter?

If this were my dog, I would seek out an experienced GSD trainer or a behaviorist who can help me understand this dog's body language.  He's either a great dog or an accident about to happen. The OP needs to know that before someone gets hurt. If the dog was truly being aggressive to the OP he is going to require special handling for hs lifetime if the decision is to keep him around.

It is not good that he growled at you when you were on the ground and helpless.

I had a GSD who got very excited when my husband and I were tobogganing in deep snow. The snow was so deep we had trouble getting up on our feet. She was dancing around us and I could see the prey instinct coming out in her, and knew that was not good.

Now this was the 'old days', so I told my husband to alpha roll her and pin her down. Today I would have handled it differently. Anyway, the alpha roll worked, and she started to behave much better towards him.

I think this is a very dominant dog, and when he saw you on the ground, he stood over top of you and growled, trying to say "I am the boss." I would have had to actually been there and seen his body language when he did that, but that is the only reason I can think of for him growling at you.

Find yourself a trainer. If I am right about what I said above, YOU NEED HELP!

Why are you saying that you hit him because you were afraid that he would bite you. What was he showing for signs besides the growling?

There Was not other sign. He just was over me growling constnuosly. He never before had did something like this. Today i fell down again to see his reaction. He approach to me sweetelly and lick me on my face. I don't know if he believed me but I think that he has to fight with his gens day by day. I was told that three of his grand parent have strong temper. But you know that this kind of dog can be desquallified in a test and excellent in the next. The thing is that breeders had to have enough responsibility to sell only dóciles dogs for homes specially the males ones. When Fidu were about 4 month a trsiner came. But he ignored her perhaps because it was a woman. She couldnt work whith him. Anyway with Fidu sometimes is better to negociate than press him.

Good. If he didnt flinch his teeth while growling then he was more upset about the situation, and that you where upset falling down. I know what you say, I too have such dog. Very dominant, loves his girls, very protective of me. Had a lot of handler agression we worked through, and still wil let me know when he feels like he is not treated right. We have a mutual agreement ;)
