I need advice - Page 1

So my friend recently got a new Shepherd puppy and wanted to bring him over to play with Liam. So 2 days ago she brought him over and before she even got out of the car I asked if he was on flea prevention and she told me yes. Well after they left I noticed my dogs were itching, not a lot but they never itch. They are both on confortis (SP) so I figured one or two jumped on them and got a quick bit in before they died. Needless to say her puppy was infested. Now I have them in my house, and we all know how hard they are to get rid of, if not you are lucky. I gave the dogs a quick bath with a natural shampoo for fleas and no fleas fell off. Yesterday I saw them scratching again so I popped them a capstar thinking maybe that shampoo was a joke because I've never used it before. No fleas. I brushed through them with a flea comb and again no fleas. I started treating the house right after she left. I placed salt and baking soda and left it down over night. I vacuumed it up, twice, and no fleas in the vacuum. So I figured maybe I was just over reacting and there were no fleas left in the house. I woke up with over 20 bites on my legs. Flea bites. So I went and bought a spray to spray the house and I did. I let it air out for an hour before I brought the dogs back in. Vacuumed again and still no fleas. Washed all of my bed stuff in really hot water. Hand washed them so I could make sure they were really clean. Went to sleep and woke up with even more bites. So I went today and got Vet's best spray that you can use for the dogs and the house. I sprayed that today and from the reviews it said it kills on contact so I left that down for about an hour and vacuumed and still no fleas. I know it takes a long time to rid your house of fleas I'm just trying to figure out what works the best. Someone told me Adam's foggers worked really good. I don't mind keeping the dogs out of the house for awhile as long as it will fix the problem. I am just baffled that I have not seen a flea after all of the stuff I have done. I went to make sure these really were flea bites and that was confirmed. Told me to keep washing them and make sure I put anti-itch stuff of them blah blah blah lol. So I guess my question is what is the best way to rid the house of them? Would it be foggers? I really don't want to pay for an exterminator if I don't have too. Hopefully one of you helpful people can give me some advice. I'm at a loss. 

This might sound like a stupid question, but are you sure it's fleas? From your description of not ever finding any fleas at all and you waking up with bites, it sounds more like bed bugs to me.  They attack at night and when they sense a warm body.  I would look more towards that end, if it were me.

My dogs have had fleas before and I am sure will have them again.  I have never been bitten by a flea.  What makes you think these are flea bites?

How do you gentlemen, it's complicated you can just drip a drop on the withers of the puppy and forget about fleas.

I went and had the bites check out because I was wondering the same thing. He said they were flea bites. I'm treated everything in the house, even the bed so I would think even if they were bed bugs that would have killed them. I am going to fog the house today and hopefully that will take care of whatever decided to eat me alive :)

. . . and if they're not bedbugs, then, they must be "ghost fleas". . . (laughs). I rather think them to be real bedbugs. Get you sleeping altar out, spray with and insecticide that kills with poisoning on contact and breathing. Goodluck.

It does not sound like fleas, the way you describe it I have to agree with the others Bedbugs 

Check your matress and boxsprings where there is stiching or piping around the edges.  They like to hide there according to the experts.
