I respond because it's so easy, you jerk.

Here has to be the best response in the whole thread. Let us thank the clueless and unimaginative who named himself phallically.

Please, if you are going to insult, at least be funny. That was really sad. I almost gave you points for the double double, but in the end it wouldn't go.
Here we go, the trainer to end all trainers comes up withthis golden response.

With brilliance lie that, I cannot believe that you are capable of feeding a dog without looking at the instructions at least twice a day, using a calculator. (I can do this all day)

Jeff Says : "So there it is. I rest my case."
WHAT? "that tracking doesn't mean shit?"
A pup doesn't drop out of his mom with an FH title, they have the inherent capablilities BUT they have to be taught by us humans how to use it. SchH Tracking is in place because it simulates in a very basic form of the type of abilities used by PDK9's and SAR dogs ON THE STREET, in REAL life...saving kids and catching criminals. To say it doesn't mean shit is very immature. It sounds like you are just putting it down to make yourself feel better...very unsportsman like.
Show some fucking respect for goodness sakes! If not for the sport of SchH then for PDK9's and SAR dogs...The tracking might not be the same as SchH tracking but they use the SAME abilities that you say don't mean shit!

The very basic form of tracking is air scenting, don't you think?? Are there not Mals out there doing the same thing???
I think that you are getting a bit carried away. My point was that if tracking was a test that had any importance at all, then a breed which does not come from a tracking heritage should have problems with it.
Somehow it evolved into the Mal is better, I am a jerk, and I have no respect, and I am a bully.
Can you really say that with the basic fact that a dog breed without any testing in tracking shows up and is able to complete what is supposed to test our dogs ability to track. Not only does the dog do this, the dog also does Police work, and SAR.
It is not respect that needs to be shown here, it is the fact that it does not prove anything about a breeds ability to track. Call me crazy, but it just seems rather obvious. From a basic stand point, a dogs nose is something like 25 times stronger than ours. I cannot imagine that just disappearing for any reason.

Big misread here. I am saying that the tracking that so many value as part of the Sch test, doesn't prove anything. Man I cannot get anyone to see this. I keep getting responses to all kinds of weird interpretations of what I am saying.

I'm sorry but I have to stick my fingers in the Kool-aid here (because it entertains me to play devils advocate- why else?)
Here are two fun quotes and my 2cents worth. Not to pick on Jeff so much as to give credit for where the quotes ripped out of context are from.
Jeff: "tracking means shit about a dog?? These same dogs that historically never track are winning, and by almost anyones definition, are much more impressive in the bitework and OB. Soooooooooo why do you guys track again???? Thought so. : P LOL"
Barbie and I track because no matter how impressive a bite your dog has, you don't get to bite the felon if you can't find the felon. That's why we track baby!
Jeff: "the tracking that so many value as part of the Sch test, doesn't prove anything."
By itself it may not prove anything but I find the schutzhund style tracking training a better foundation to teach certain basic tracking skills- work with your nose not so much your eyes. A lot of mals in our area (most come from a ring/knpv background so it is more of a training difference and not a breed thing, in this area the majority of GSD's are from a sch background) are visually oriented in searching for a subject. This was brought out this week in a recent training scenario involving water work with only the decoys head showing in somewhat deep water in the river under an old barges bow. Barbie worked the problems well and quickly and you could very much tell that she was using her nose as opposed to the two mals that were very visually oriented and took longer to find the decoy. (if there is a water emergency your sleeve can be used as a flotation device :) ) Barbie has had more scent training and tracking foundation in her beginning training than the other two dogs with their backgrounds.

So this is a training issue, and not something that needs to be proven.

This is probably the best information I have gotten from this exchange. LOL
