The VA1 2007 will be a small dog, the big ones don't stand a chance anymore.

So forget Quantum, and forget Orbit! Also forget Odin and Janos (for high VA-places.) Zamb will fail bitework, as will Jimmy and Nando (again!), others might too, if judges are sincere and strict (which is what we all want). I very much fear they will soon join poor Yoker in China. "If you don't bite! I will sell you!" Poor guys, it is so lovely to live in good old Germany.

The new Bundeszuchtwart Mister Meyer has followed up on a long lasting problem, namely, that GSDs are way too big. He has set the pace on shows in Germany already this season as some of you might have noticed, and "the big ones" were placed at the end of the row! If Mister Meyer is to forfill his obligations at the Siegerschau, a lot of people will be very unhappy! (Understatement.)

We are in for some big surprises, and a lot of friction!

Hope to see you in Braunschweig! (You will witness a huge change in the landscape!)

Not only should the oversized dogs be banned from the last ring, they should also lose their KKl1! and be set back to KKl2.

1 Cm is enough to ban them from KKl1.

THOSE ARE THE RULES! And it just looks like Mister Meyer is about to follow them. (I'm SO happy!)

Hi Jantie, as I believe that much of what you write has a true ring to it, I have some regret to it as well. The size problem is known over a long time, and for the fact that these dogs were placed high had the outcome, that breeders would use these dogs massively for breeding. So over a long period the oversize was bred into the breed. To now follow the rules down to the last point, would be mildly spoken, a devastation for all. Yes, i agree, there has to be a starting point and we should be more carefull about, but my believe is, that its going to be a hard task to get something out, that was set over decades, in a heartbeat. Also to downgrade the KKl because a male is 66cm and loosing everything this dog has to offer, i believe to be balony.

And yes, i believe there will be some eyeopeners in Braunschweig. Can hardly wait.

Well, let me add one more remark from the other discussion, where an insider wrote this: (I know you speak German)

In der Zuchtordnung steht unter 4.1.4 u.a.:
"Zur Zucht nicht zugelassen sind Hunde ... c) mit nachstehenden Mängeln:
...
- Hunde mit Über- oder Untergröße von mehr als 1 cm
..."
Es ist den Eigentümern anderer Hunde gegenüber einfach nicht fair, daß in anderen Bereichen die zuchtausschließenden Mängel (entsprechende Zahnfehler, Langstockhaar etc.) zu einer Schaubewertung führen, die dem Hund die Zuchtzulassung verwehrt, sich aber im Bereich der Größe munter über die gültige Zuchtordnung hinweggesetzt wird. Nur "nach hinten stellen" reicht da meiner Ansicht nach nicht aus. Das ist höchstens ein Anfang.
Beim Langstockhaar war es doch auch so, daß die Hunde Knall auf Fall aus der Zucht draußen waren. Könnte man bei Übergröße ganz genau so machen. In einer Übergangszeit sind diese Hunde zwar zucht-, aber nicht körfähig (d.h. ihr züchterisches Potential könnte noch eine Weile genutzt werden, allerdings wäre ihren direkten Nachkommen die VA-Klasse verwehrt), und nach einer Übergangszeit wird die Zuchtordnung exakt ausgelegt.
Herr Meyer alleine wird sowas nicht durchsetzen können. Dafür bräuchte es einen entsprechenden Gerechtigkeitssinn unter allen Mitgliedern. Aber da fühlen sich doch leider zu viele SV-Mitglieder wie die Schweine auf Orwell's Farm...

Now  I underwrite A.'s testimony "voll und ganz". You will certainly NOT object to throwing out today's 70+ males out of the VA-selection? That's only a start, we can take it from there.

To clearwater2: remember the dog must "out" in order to succeed bitework. Nando failed and got T1.

And by the way clearwater: Quantum, Orbit AND Odin are giants. If Mister Meyer is correct in his judging (after putting the giants in the back row at regional shows), he must continue to do so on the Siegerschau if he does not want to lose his credibility.

I will check his integrity in Braunschweig.

Not let out is a obedience failure , not a failure in the bitework  !!!!  you cannot list him between dogs who realy fail the courage test!!! the T3,s

and  btw , of course its good that dogs with oversize  should not come in the VA or in front of the V,s,  but I can tell you that for  me its much more important that dogs in there have a GSD  character !!!!!!  and thats not only the bite part !!!!  and who tells you that Odin is too big ?? did you see him ever??   from the size and conformation is Vegas Mansard  the real one  but there is still that other part....
